Spot the Hazards in a Room That Can Lead to a Fall

Available in English and French.

Developed by Saskatchewan Health Authority-Saskatoon area.

Create a mock room full of potential hazards that can lead to falls. It is meant to be a station that people will walk through to identify the various fall risks within the room. This can be for staff, teams, students and the public of any organization working in the health care or home setting. What you include will vary depending on the setting.

This is a great way to engage people in understanding the complex risk factors for falls through visualizing the potential hazards. People can walk through individually or with a facilitator in a group. Have them complete a questionnaire or discuss their findings.

You can make this more engaging by incorporating a contest or attaching a display area with resources for people to take as well.

Cost: Minimal costs for materials to set up mock potential hazards.

Timeline: Can take up to one hour, depending on the number of people participating
